Over 80% of students stop practicing the faith in college—that’s most of the campus! The problem is, many students struggle to find great friends that share their faith. To help solve this problem Newman Ministry partnered with Ink Blot to create a website and marketing materials that highlight their app that connects students to Catholic student ministries on their campus.
Starting with a messaging, Ink Blot delivered a Brand Messaging Guide to outline the exact words to use to be clear and compelling. It defines audiences; provides short and long-form one-liners, elevator pitches, and headline options; as well as 25 different keyword phrases to use in marketing materials. The heart of the Brand Messaging Guide is the Brandscript. It is a 7-part story framework that guides Newman Ministry on all their marketing efforts. This is where Ink Blot defines the hero of the story (the student), what they want, what is stopping them from getting what they want, and how Newman Ministry comes along as the guide to help the hero reach their goal (graduate college with a stronger faith).
From the strong foundation laid with the Brand Messaging Guide, Ink Blot delivered a fun and exciting website with a broadened brand identity utilizing lively colors and patterns, creative cut-out images, and engaging animations.
An additional challenge was building the website on a platform that integrates with Newman’s robust database and API that feeds both their app and website. Webflow was chosen as a CMS (Content Management System) of choice that allowed Ink Blot to create an engaging custom website while simultaneously letting Newman’s tech team join in the efforts, creating a beautiful and dynamic launch pad for students, parents, and donors.
